Penn State's upcoming football matchup against Delaware is set to be a challenging one, as several key personnel will be unavailable for the game, as indicated by the team's availability report.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Nittany Lions will
miss the presence of defensive tackle Coziah Izzard, cornerback Daequan Hardy,
and defensive end Amin Vanover. Unfortunately, the report does not provide
specific reasons for their absence. Izzard, who was a potential starter, played
in nine games last season and made an impact with ten tackles, including four
tackles for loss, two sacks, and a quarterback hurry. However, he did not
participate in last week's game against West Virginia. Hardy, another potential
starter, was absent from last week's game as well. He played in every game last
season, accumulating 13 tackles, a forced fumble, an interception, and four
pass breakups. Vanover, who played in every game for the Nittany Lions last
year, will also be out of action after missing last week's matchup. He
contributed with 16 tackles, two quarterback hurries, and three pass breakups
last season.
On the offensive front, wide receiver and special teams
captain Malick Meiga will not be available for the Delaware game, despite
recording one reception for seven yards in last week's matchup. Last year,
Meiga caught three passes for 19 yards in 12 games. Additionally, fellow pass
catcher Omari Evans is listed as questionable for Saturday's game, mirroring
his status from last week. In the previous game, Evans had a false start
penalty, which was the team's only penalty of the game. Evans is among the
contenders for the third starting receiver position on the Penn State roster.
