As the United States marks the 22nd anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, emotions of sorrow and anger still reverberate across the nation. The scars left by 9/11 remain fresh, even as time passes. While more than two decades have elapsed without a terrorist attack on the scale of 9/11, the specter of such threats has not entirely vanished.
What's striking, however, is that an entire generation is
coming of age with no firsthand connection to 9/11. On that fateful day, when
Al Qaeda targeted the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, some of today's
young adults were either too young to comprehend the events or had not even
been born. The question we must grapple with now is, how do we ensure that the
legacy of 'stolen lives' lives on in the hearts and minds of those who never
witnessed that pivotal moment in history?
